05 March 2014- In response to the success of noted financial management expert Randell Tiongson’s first financial literacy seminar on 4 August 2013 at the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, and a clamor among members of the Filipino community to bring him back, the Philippine Consulate General, together with PLDT-SMART HK, organized another financial literacy seminar featuring Mr. Tiongson on March 2 at the Consulate General premises.
Effortlessly switching from humorous anecdotes to serious topics regarding the need of Filipino workers to be financially literate, Mr. Tiongson focused this time around on money management and budgeting, as opposed to his August 2013 talk when he gave a general overview of what financial literacy is all about. A highlight of the seminar was when the participants made their own cash flows based on their present circumstances for them to have a better appreciation of where their money is going and the unnecessary expenses that they can cut back on.
At the end of the seminar, Mr. Cheung King Fai, Assistant Marketing and Media Manager of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, invited those in attendance to watch Filipino films Kimmy Dora 3 and On the Job on 30 March 2014, 10:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., respectively, at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre. Tickets are priced at HK$75 each. END
