PH Consulate General in Jeddah Hosts Iftar Banquet
PHOTO: The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah held its annual Iftar or breaking of fast on 13 May 2019 in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan.
Consul General to Jeddah Edgar B. Badajos said that the Consulate General’s Iftar is a way of showing respect to the traditions and practices of the Muslim community during the month of Ramadan. This year’s Iftar was specifically set on the last day of Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) to serve at the same time as thanksgiving for the successful and peaceful conduct of overseas voting.
The Iftar is a tradition in Muslim countries where the Muslims fast every day from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan. The fast-breaking meal eaten after sunset is called Iftar.
