Special Board of Canvassers in Manama Transmits Election Results, Submits Certificate of Canvass

MANAMA 21 May 2019 – The Special Board of Canvassers (SBOC) of the Philippine Embassy in Manama, chaired by Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver, successfully transmitted the canvassed election returns from the two precincts of the Embassy to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC)at 4:00 a.m. of 14 May 2019, or less than 16 hours after the close of voting.

A total of 6,681 voters cast their ballots at the Embassy during the 30-day period of overseas voting, which is equivalent to 24.71 percent of the 27,033 total registered overseas voters in Bahrain. A total of 4,033 or 60.37 percent of those who cast their votes are female voters, while 2,648 or 29.63 percent are male

As required by the COMELEC, SBOC Chairperson Ambassador Ver also flew to Manila on the evening of 14 May 2019, to personally submit to COMELEC the results of the canvassing.  He arrived in Manila on 15 May 2019 and proceeded directly to the PICC Command Center to submit the Certificates of Canvass and election returns.
