PH Consulate General in Chicago Closes Overseas Voting
CHICAGO 21 May 2019 — The election period at the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago officially closed at 5:00 a.m. on 13 May 2019, completing a 30-day period that commenced on 13 April 2019.
A total of 4,578 valid ballots were received by the Consulate General at the closing of the voting period representing 22.50 percent of the total Post’s registered voters of 20,344.
While Consulate General’s mode of voting is postal voting, it opened its door during the weekend, from 9:00 am to 10:00 p.m. on 11 May 2019, and from 9:00 a.m. on 12 May 2019 until 5:00 a.m. the following day, 13 May 2019, to accommodate ballots from last-minute voters who were expected to personally deliver their ballots to the Consulate General.
The last day of voting at the Consulate General went on smoothly as expected with two members from the local media, Joseph Lariosa of PhilAm Messenger and Manny Zambrano of Philippine Weekly, observing the proceedings. END
