UGANDA 21 May 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi conducted its first mobile consular outreach mission in Uganda for 2019 at the the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Kampala on 28 April 2019.
Filipinos based in Uganda travelled around six hours by land to take advantage of the consular services offered by the Embassy, which includes passport renewals, notarials, authentication, and labor issue consultation.
Many of the Filipinos present also took the opportunity to cast their votes in the field voting mission held in tandem with the consular outreach.
They also happily reported that Filipinos have a good reputation in East Africa. The Filipino community in Uganda is spread over the engineering, construction, medicine, accountancy and education sectors, as well as the restaurant and hotel industries, or are employed by the United Nations.
Uganda is one of the 12 countries under the jurisdiction of the Embassy. The Ugandan capital, Kampala, is located 660 kilometers from Nairobi. END
