COPENHAGEN 29 May 2019 – Philippine Ambassador to Denmark Leo M. Herrera-Lim and Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Jan Top Christensen were the key speakers in a seminar on business opportunities in the Philippines at the Asia House in Copenhagen on 22 May 2019.
The Ambassadors discussed the political and socio-economic relations between the two countries to celebrate the 73rd year of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Denmark. The event was also held to welcome the first Philippine Ambassador to Denmark, and to bid farewell to the outgoing Danish Ambassador to the Philippines.
Ambassador Herrera-Lim discussed the long-term socio-economic goals of the Philippines through the country’s Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 and Ambisyon 2040. He highlighted the country’s infrastructure efforts through the Build, Build, Build program.
On the other hand, Ambassador Christensen featured the political-economic factors that will aid the Philippines’ growth in the next decade, tagging the country as “a bright shining star of Asia.”
Both Ambassadors emphasized the investment and trade opportunities that Danish companies can venture in the Philippines, such as in agriculture, water and energy, pharmaceutical, shipping, infrastructure, retail, manufacturing, business process outsourcing, and tourism.
In addition, five Danish companies which are established in the Philippines shared their success stories in the country, promoting the huge, young, and well-educated work-force as one major reason in engaging more with the Philippines. END
