07 March 2014- Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Nestor Z. Ochoa, along with selected Heads of Missions and other members of the diplomatic corps, participated in the 2014 Regatta Brunei Darussalam on March 2 at the Royal Wharf, Bandar Seri Begawan.

The event kicked off with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, taking part in the 15-Rowers Special Fiberglass Boat Race.  

The 2014 Royal Regatta was attended by over 1,200 participants from Brunei, China and Malaysia and jointly organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.

The Royal Regatta aimed to restore the glory of boat racing in Brunei and promote tourism.     

Participating teams were awarded medals and were recognized by His Majesty the Sultan during the event. END
