NEW YORK 06 June 2019 — The Philippine Montessori Center Instrumental Ensemble (PMCIE) held a one-hour afternoon concert on 29 May 2019 at the Sputnik Area of the United Nations Visitor’s Lobby in New York, to the delight of diplomats from the different delegations and UN Filipino staff members and their colleagues.

The PMCIE, consisting of children aged four to six years old, performed pieces from Mozart and Strauss, familiar songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein, and local favorites that brought a bit of nostalgia to the Filipino audience.

The children were also joined by the Nightingales–a duo of former soprano soloists of the renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers.

The PMCIE is a unique percussion ensemble of pre-school children whose series of concerts “Pinoys to the World: A Celebration of Filipino Musical Artistry” started in the Philippines in February this year.

The group's concert at the UN was a prelude to their performance at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York on 31 May 2019. END
