PH Consulate General in Los Angeles Kicks-Off the Bar and Restaurant Week

ARCADIA 07 June 2019 — In observance of Filipino Cultural Heritage Month and Asian Pacific American Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, in partnership with Filipino-American organization Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), launched the Bar and Restaurant Week on 05 May 2019 at the residence of Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz.
Filipino restaurant participants in the event were Chef Barb Batiste’s Big Boi and B Sweet, Raymond Magsaysay’s Mambo International Cuisine, Annabelle Barraquias’ Ninong’s Pastries and Café, Chef J.R. Martin’s Tatang and Cherina Vergara’s Titas of Manila Kitchen. The event also featured Philippine rum Don Papa.
Attendees were mainly young Filipino-American influencers and professionals. The event also served as a platform for the guests to immerse themselves in Filipino culture especially by acquainting their palettes with the vibrant flavors of Filipino cuisine.
In his remarks, Consul General Cruz encouraged the Filipino-American millennials to cultivate and deepen their desire to appreciate and connect with their cultural roots. To this end, the Consulate General consistently involves Filipino-American millennials in its cultural events, aimed at highlighting the various facets of Filipino cultural heritage.
Consul General Cruz also conveyed his appreciation to the Filipino chefs and restaurant owners for their tremendous support to the Consulate General that made the Filipino food promotion activity a great success.
Everyone in attendance immensely enjoyed the delectable dishes, such as varieties of adobo, lechon de Cebu, kare-kare, lechon kawali, lumpia, longanisa meatballs, ube champorado and other Filipino-fusion desserts that the participating restaurants generously prepared for the event. END
