NAIROBI 07 June 2019 — Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua and Madame Marie Marla Chua visited the Poor Servants of Divine Providence (PSDP) in Nakuru on 01 June 2019.
The Embassy shared snacks and hygiene kits with the 60 current resident children at the PSDP mission, and reminded them that God loves them to give them hope and uplift their mood.
The mission is run by Poor Servants Sisters namely Sr. Elenice, Sr. Rosela and Sr. Daniela and Fr. Deem S. Virtudazo, a Filipino priest from the Compostela Valley who joined the mission since 2012. As a missionary priest, Fr. Virtudazo reaches out to young abandoned children in the street and encourages them to stay in the PSDP mission.
The PSDP is present in Nairobi and in Nakuru, which has one parish and provides a pastoral experience for the candidates of the first year of Postulancy.
The mission also serves as a formation house and provides basic education and training to young girls from vulnerable socio-economic backgrounds. The Sisters also make bread to sell to the community and teach the girls to develop some vocational skills.
The PSDP is a catholic religious congregation, composed of Brothers and Priests and missionaries of Poor Sisters, founded by St. John Calabria on 1907 in Verona, Italy. END
