PH Embassy in London Successfully Closes First ASEAN Film Festival in London

LONDON 07 June 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in London successfully closed the ASEAN Film Festival in London with the film “Kung Paano Siya Nawala” by TBA Studios.

In collaboration with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) University of London, the ASEAN London Committee (ALC) showcased the best of Southeast Asian cinema by staging the first ASEAN Film Festival in London from 21 to 25 May 2019 at the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre. The Embassy spearheaded the project on behalf of the ALC.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador to the United Kingdom Antonio M. Lagdameo spoke about how cinema speaks a universal language that can connect different cultures across the world. He noted that the film festival was an opportunity to promote cultural understanding between the United Kingdom and ASEAN. The Socio-cultural Community is one of the pillars of the ASEAN Community in building harmony among the peoples of ASEAN and the world.

The Embassy also hosted a reception previous to the film showing, attended by members of the ASEAN diplomatic corps, British officials, and cinema lovers. END
