NAIROBI 07 June 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi discussed ways to improve Philippine tourism with Oman Air as Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua received Oman Air Country Manager Sameer Butt in a courtesy call at the Embassy on 04 June 2019.
Ambassador Chua was joined by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Maria Rosanna O. Josue and Cultural Officer Hossana P. Dela Cruz, while Mr. Butt was accompanied by Oman Air-Kenya Business Development Officer Peggy Macharia.
During the call, Mr. Butt appraised Ambassador Chua that Oman Air now has daily flights to Manila as of April 2019. He said that Oman Air realizes the growing awareness of international travelers about Philippines as a tourism destination.
“The Philippines is a fun place to go, an alternative destination to Europe and Dubai for African travellers,” according to Mr. Butt. “The diverse activities you can do in the different Philippine islands and the warmth of the Filipino people are its most attractive value-added features.”
Ambassador Chua welcomed the courtesy call of Mr. Butt, lauding it as the “beginning of what we can do together to advance Philippine tourism and increase global market share for Oman Air.”
Ambassador also thanked Mr. Butt for supporting the Embassy’s projects, when Oman Air pledged to give a roundtrip business class airfare as raffle prize for the 2019 Philippine Independence Day celebration in Nairobi.
Oman Air, which offers the most competitive airfare prices, has the majority market share of travel to Manila from Kenya. END
