LOS ANGELES 13 June 2019 – Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz received Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) director Cesar B. Chavez on his official visit to Los Angeles on 05-07 June 2019 to promote Clark as an investment destination.
During his visit, Director Chavez participated in the Global Access Program (GAP) Conference entitled, “Global Opportunities in a Sustainable Digital Economy” held on 05 June 2019, which was organized by the California State University in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
He also met with executive officials of the Port of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority on 06 June 2019, to exchange information and best practices in port management and railway development, operation and financing.
In all his meetings, including the GAP Conference, Director Chavez highlighted Clark development as a key driver of the “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program of President Rodrigo Duterte. The masterplan for Clark’s development boasts of a metropolis unmatched in connectivity, a disaster-resilient location, and the first green city in the Philippines.
The meetings with the Port of Los Angeles and Los Angeles Metro also paved the way for discussion on potential areas for cooperation between BCDA and the two agencies.
Prior to assuming his position with the BCDA, Director Chavez served as Undersecretary for Rail at the Department of Transportation. He is currently in process of transitioning to serve as the Chief of Staff of the newly-elected Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso.
Also present during the meetings were BCDA head executive assistant Atty. Glenda Rumohr, Deputy Consul General Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III, the Consulate General’s Political/Economic Officer Consul Rea G. Oreta, Information Officer Mary Grace Leaño and Protocol Officer Fernan Balicoco. END
