SANTIAGO 15 June 2019 – As part of the Philippines Embassy in Santiago’s engagement with the Chilean community, Ambassador-designate to Chile Ma. Teresita C. Daza delivered a presentation on “Philippine Foreign Policy, Challenges and the Role of ASEAN”, before the Master class and Political Science students of Professor Nicole Jenne at the Catholic University of Chile’s Political Science Institute on 04 June 2019.

Ambassador Daza highlighted key determinants of Philippine foreign policy and challenges across the political, security, economic and socio-cultural fronts.  She also briefly spoke on ASEAN and developments in its community building efforts.

Her presentation was followed by a special presentation on the Philippines from top students and their perspective on how to respond to the great power competition in East Asia.

A candid open forum ensued where questions on disaster management efforts by the Philippines and ASEAN identity were raised.

The Catholic University of Chile is one of six Catholic universities in Chile’s university system and is also one of the more recognized universities in Latin America. END
