Negrense Chef represents PH at the Tuna Festival in Portugal

LISBON 15 June 2019 – Negrense chef Don Angelo Emil F. Colmenares was in Portugal to represent the Philippines in the Tuna Route Festival from 05 to 09 June 2019 at Porto Santo, Madeira.
Hailing from Bacolod City, Mr. Colmenares joined other International Chefs from Australia, France, Italy, Japan, Spain and Portugal who showcased their respective tuna gastronomic dishes during the event.
Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria was at the Tuna Festival with the Filipino chef, promoting not only Philippine culinary diplomacy, but also encouraging the Portuguese to consider the Philippines as a tourist destination.
A featured guest chef in several culinary expositions in the Philippines and at the Madrid Fusion Manila, the Filipino chef prepared four dishes, including Seared Tuna “Paksiw” with White Adlai and Toasted Coconut Tuna Kinilaw at the Tuna Festival’s Philippine Day on 05 June.
Through Mr.Colmenares, the Philippines will be able to promote and raise awareness of the growing interest of the tastes and flavors of Philippine cuisine in the global cuisine scene.
On its second year, the Tuna Route Festival in the island of Porto Santo is a gastronomic and tourism event that also promotes the sustainability of the Portuguese fishery industry. Porto Santo is responsible for more than 60 percent of Portugal’s total tuna fishery quota.
The Tuna Route Festival is an event promoted by Vila Baleira Resort, with the support of the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries of the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture and the Madeira Promotion Association. END
