PH Embassy in Brasilia Celebrates PH Heritage Month
PHOTO: In celebration of Philippine Heritage Month, the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia conducted a Workshop on “Noli Me Tangere” and a screening of the historical epic, “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral”, which depicted the last days of General Gregorio del Pilar before his heroic death at the Battle of Tirad Pass. Both events were held on 02 June 2019.
Filipino-Brazilian Barbara Bomfim, a faculty member at the Department of Letters of Centro Universitario UNIEURO in Brasilia, served as the workshop facilitator. The workshop was divided into two parts: a brief lecture on the political and socio-economic situation at the time the novel was written by Dr. Jose Rizal and a glimpse into the Philippine history during the Spanish occupation. The group also conducted a workshop on the plot and themes of the novel.
