Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana headed the Philippine delegation to the event and also served as one of the panelists during the 5th Plenary Session held on 2 June 2019 on the topic "Preventing Conflict in Contested Domains”.

During the discussions, Secretary Lorenzana highlighted the need to "reduce the scope of reckless miscalculations" and ensuring that "no single power should exercise unilateral control over vital arteries of global trade."

He also identified accelerated climate change and disruptive technological innovation as the twin challenges confronting the Indo-Pacific region which could potentially upend the regional security architecture. (Singapore PE photo)
