HONG KONG 18 June 2019 – Almost 50 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) attended a seminar to raise awareness on employment rights on 02 June 2019 at the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong. The event was conducted in cooperation with non-profit organization HELP for Domestic Workers.

HELP for Domestic Workers Case Manager Betty Wagner discussed the basic rights and entitlements of Migrant Domestic Workers in Hong Kong. She conveyed that HELP’s mission is to empower foreign domestic workers through advice and assistance, education and advocacy and help them gain access to justice and receive fair and equal treatment before the law in the Territory.

Ms. Wagner added that they also provide free advice and assistance on employment, immigration and human rights issues to domestic workers.

A question and answer session led by Ms. Wagner together with three other HELP volunteers, followed the lecture where attendees actively participated in asking questions and sharing their work experiences.

The next workshop for OFWs on employment rights is set tentatively during the second half of 2019. END
