Songspell PH’s Angelic Voices Showcased in Concert in Los Angeles
The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles successfully hosts the first leg of the 10th USA Concert Tour of Songspell Philippines, Inc. entitled, Come Alive, at the Community Hall of the Consulate General on 15 May 2019.
LOS ANGELES 11 June 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles successfully hosts the first leg of the 10th USA Concert Tour of Songspell Philippines, Inc. entitled “Come Alive” at the Consulate General’s Community Hall on 15 May 2019.
The free concert, which was organized by the Consulate General in partnership with the Davao Association U.S.A. (DAUSA), was attended by around a hundred guests composed of members of various Filipino-American community organizations in Los Angeles.
The internationally-renowned performing group from Davao City, regaled the audience with their delightful rendition of excerpts from the very popular musical film, The Greatest Showman, and their soulful interpretation of some kundiman, as well as, Original Pilipino Music (OPM) songs.
Songspell Philippines’ Inc. is composed of 24 members, aged five to 18. It is supported by committed families in Davao City who are dedicated to the musical, moral and spiritual formation of the community’s children by cultivating and honing their musical talents. In view of the success of the group’s first USA Concert Tour in 2000, Songspell was inspired to start a tradition of embarking a US concert tour every two years.
Songspell’s 10th USA Concert Tour also includes performances in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Maryland, Connecticut and New York.
Through the years, the group has supported various charitable institutions by donating a portion of the proceeds of their concert tours. For this year, their beneficiary is the DS Foundation for the Differently-abled Inc., a non-profit, humanitarian organization based in Davao City that provides services to children with Down Syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy, among other disabilities.
