YANGON 20 June 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon gave diplomats from the ASEAN embassies and Myanmar chefs a taste of the Philippines through mouthwatering authentic Filipino dishes prepared by the first and only Pinoy Masterchef JR Royol at the opening night of the Philippine Food Festival 2019 at Café Sule of the Sule Shangri-La Hotel Yangon on 11 June 2019.

With the theme Feast on Pinoy Flavours, guests got to try pancit molo, beef uragon, pork estofado, bam-i and other sumptuous Philippine dishes. Filipino desserts such as leche flan and turon were also served.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr said that true to the adage, ‘you are what you eat’, “The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar thought it best to introduce its culture and Filipino hospitality through delicious food. The main goal is to experience and enjoy Philippine food in the company of friends,” he added

The Ambassador officially opened the food festival with Sule Shangri-La General Manager Phillip Couvaras, Mr. Royol and Executive Chef Albertus Tanudjaja.

The Philippine Food Festival is part of the Embassy’s commemorative activities to celebrate the 121st Anniversary of Proclamation of Philippine Independence. END
