ASEAN Committee in Rome Undertakes Working Mission to Turin

ROME 28 June 2019 – Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco participated in the working mission to Turin of the Ambassadors of the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) from 16 to 18 June 2019.

The Embassy of Myanmar, current Chair of the committee, led the mission, in collaboration with the Torino World Affairs Institute and the Torino Chamber of Commerce. Malaysian Ambassador to Italy Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Myanmar Ambassador to Italy Myint Naung, Thai Ambassador to Italy Chirdu Raktabutr, Vietnamese Ambassador to italy Nguyen Thi Bich Hue, Indonesian Embasy Deputy Chief of Mission J.S. George Lantu participated in the mission.

During the visit, the ACR delegation met with Turin Mayor Chiara Appendino. The ACR conveyed readiness to engage with local authorities and institutions to enhance economic, political and socio-cultural cooperation between ASEAN and Italy, particularly with the city of Turin.

The group also visited the restoration laboratory of the Centro Conservazione Restauro of La Venaria Reale where conservation and restoration of cultural heritage interventions are carried out, the Royal Palace and Gardens of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site La Venaria Reale, and the production plant of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Group in Turin.

The ACR undertakes regular working missions to different regions in Italy to increase awareness and visibility of ASEAN in Italy, to promote economic opportunities between ASEAN and Italian institutions, and to create networks with local authorities. END
