Filipino-American Talents Dominate Asian-American Production of ”Mamma Mia”
PHOTO: Filipino-American talents dominated the East West Players production of internationally-acclaimed Broadway show “Mamma Mia”.
In the show attended by Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles officers and staff on 07 June 2019, the theater was jam-packed with members of the Filipino community who gave a standing ovation for the impressive performance of the casts.
While “Mamma Mia” is a western fiction story, characters were mainly played by Asians with Filipino-Americans as protagonists. The production likewise creatively infused Philippine cultural elements such as the folk dance “Tinikling” and the “Barong Tagalog” fashion.
