PH Congratulates, Affirms Support for New FAO Director-General
PHOTO: Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel F. PiƱol (left) personally conveyed the greetings of the Philippine Government to Qu Dongyu on his election as the new Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General during the elections for the said post held during the 41st Session of the FAO Conference on 22-23 June 2019.
Mr. Qu is currently the Chinese Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs Vice Minister and will be succeeding Director-General Jose Graziano da Silva, who will end his term on 31 July 2019.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is the prime agency in the UN system that leads it efforts in addressing hunger and food security. It is mandated to raise levels of nutrition, improve agricultural productivity, better the lives of rural populations and contribute to the growth of the world economy. (Rome PE photo)
