PH Ambassador Welcomes Newest Addition to Filipino Religious Community in Kenya

NAIROBI 03 July 2019 – Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua and Philippine Embassy in Nairobi Consul General Edgar Tomas “Gary” Auxilian welcomed the new Filipino members of the Missionary Community of St. Paul the Apostle (MCSP) and other Filipino priests and nuns from different congregations on 21 June 2019 at the Embassy.
The newest addition to the well-respected Filipino religious community are Fr. Arthur Flores, Fr. Peter John Guarin, and Fr. Alfone Marie Berbegal from the Archdiocese of Jaro, Iloilo under Archbishop Romeo Lazo. They are missionaries with their assignment at Diocese of Lodwar in Lake Turkana, an area near the border of Kenya with Ethiopia and South Sudan.
They were joined by Fr. Francis Teo of MCSP, Sr. Genie S. Herran and Sr. Ruby B. Magno of the Mensa Domini Sisters based in Lake Turkana and Sr. Elizabeth Jundos, OP of St. Lukes Catholic Mission based in Maasia Land.
There are over 50 Filipino members of the religious community from different congregations, and are assigned in remote and under-privileged areas in Kenya. END
