PH Embassy Carries Out Medical Mission with Caritas-Lebanon

 Beirut Caritas 1

BEIRUT 04 July 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Beirut successfully conducted its second Medical Mission, this time in collaboration with CARITAS-Lebanon on 02 June 2019, where 60 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) benefited from the free check-up and consultation provided by CARITAS healthcare professionals.

The medical mission was scheduled on Sunday to cater to Filipino nationals, most of whom have their weekly day off every Sunday.

Basic medical check-up was provided, including blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring. Beneficiaries also had one-on-one consultation with attending physicians - family medicine practitioner Dr. Carine Feghali and endocrinologist Dr. Judith Skaff.  Those requiring further tests and follow-up were referred to caritas-run healthcare centers.

As part of the health awareness campaign, a public seminar was conducted covering a wide range of health topics and ailments including diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension.

A significant part of assistance to nationals extended by the Embassy to distressed Filipinos is medical in nature by organizing medical missions with key NGO partners.

The Embassy aims to encourage Filipino nationals in Lebanon to give attention to their health by making available free basic medical check-up and consultation for possible detection of diseases in the early stages.

Filipino nationals often share that they choose to put off or delay medical check-up due to the high medical consultation fees and/or difficulty of obtaining the healthcare they need for lack of information, such as to which clinics or doctors to go to.

All 60 participants received a free snack after their medical check-up and consultation.

Two more medical missions are slated by the Embassy for 2019. END
