PH Ambassador to Hungary Presents Credentials as Non-Resident Ambassador to Serbia

BELGRADE 04 July 2019 – Ambassador to Hungary Maria Fe T. Pangilinan presented her Letter of Credence to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić as non-resident Philippine Ambassador to Serbia on 25 June 2019.

Fifteen other non-resident Ambassadors from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East also presented their credentials at a combined ceremony held at the Presidential palace.

A meeting between President Vučić  and Ambassador Pangilinan followed, where both parties expressed their mutual desire to improve and expand bilateral relations and cooperation, particularly in the fields of economics and sports. Philippine company Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (IMI) recently opened its factory in Niš.  Both Filipinos and Serbians are basketball enthusiasts.

President Vučić  extended his salutations to President Rodrigo Duterte, with whom he has previously met in China during the One Belt, One Road presentation. The Serbian President remarked that he was impressed by President Duterte, who spoke like a true and strong leader.

After her presentation of credentials, Ambassador Pangilinan called on officials of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss matters of mutual interest and to explore new avenues for cooperation.

To mark the auspicious occasion, Ambassador Pangilinan celebrated with the Filipino community in Serbia with a merienda cena organized by Philippine Honorary Consul Dragijana Petrović. END
