18 Participants Complete the Basic Khmer Language Class for Filipinos in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH 05 July 2019 – Eighteen participants received Certificates of Completion after participating in the 20-hour Basic Khmer Language Class for Filipinos in Cambodia.

In her remarks on 23 June 2019, Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh Chargé d’Affaires (CDA), a.i. Myca Magnolia M. Fischer congratulated the participants and expressed confidence that, armed with survival Khmer language skills, they will adjust more easily to life in Cambodia and create lasting friendships with the local population. 

The free language program included simple conversations on introductions, food, transportation, shopping, days/months, counting, and telling the time.

Offered to Filipinos residing and working in Phnom Penh, the language classes were held for two hours in ten Sundays at the Embassy. The course was conducted by Hok Dara, a Khmer language teacher for foreigners and author of the book “Cambodian Vocabulary for Foreigners.” END
