LOS ANGELES 05 July 2019 – GK 1 World Foundation dba Gawad Kalinga (GK) USA, paid a courtesy call on Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz on 19 June 2019. Also present during the call were the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles’ Cultural Section, composed of Vice Consul Dyan Miranda-Pastrana and Maria Dolores Sales.

The team, composed of GK 1 World Foundation executive director Maricel Villanueva, Los Angeles area coordinator Tess Castro and Orange County area coordinator Dr. Lani Diamse, briefed Consul General Cruz on GK’s model of Social Transformation for ending poverty in the Philippines.

This includes community-building, livelihood programs and social education, among others. They further informed the Consul General of ongoing projects their team is undertaking in the United States to cast a wider net to realize GK’s mission and vision.

Consul General Cruz assured the GK delegation of the Consulate General’s support by way of disseminating information about their humanitarian efforts to the Filipino-American community in Southern California.  He also offered them a free booth to sell their handcrafted livelihood products during the 2019 ASEAN Women Circle of Los Angeles Bazaar, which will be held at his official residence on 24 August 2019.

GK is a Philippine-based nation-building movement whose main strategy is to mobilize and engage all sectors of society to work together toward ending poverty.  Its mission is to end poverty for five million families in the Philippines by 2024.
