SAN FRANCISCO 09 July 2019 — A delegation from the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) of the Philippines, headed by Regular Members Atty. Maria Milagros N. Fernan-Cayosa and Judge Toribio E. Ilao Jr., called on Consul General to San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. on 04 June 2019 at the Philippince Center.

During the call, Consul General Bensurto shared with the delegation the ongoing initiatives of the Consulate, particularly the Spark*Connect*Empower movement, which aims to spark pride among Filipino Americans in their Filipino heritage and traditions, connect them with others, and empower them to engage with their motherland in the hope that they become active agents of positive change.

The JBC Delegation was in San Francisco for an Observation Visit from 02 to 09 June 2019, to identify best practices in the selection of the California judiciary that may be applied to the JBC’s processes. 

The Delegation held meetings with Judicial Appointments Secretary Martin Jenkins, the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation, the State Bar of California, Filipino-American Judge Benjamin Reyes of Contra Costa County, and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-California Chapter. END
