PH Ambassador Visits Cyber Knife Facility at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi

ISLAMABAD 10 July 2019 – To enhance the Philippines and Pakistan bilateral relationship on humanitarian and educational ground, Ambassador to Pakistan Daniel R. Espiritu visited the Cyber Knife facility on 28 June 2019 at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi.

Ambassador Espiritu was accompanied by the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad’s cultural and economic team during the visit.

Cyber Knife is a robotic, cutting-edge technology that uses a high cancer-killing dose of radiation in a precise, painless, and non-invasive manner and can cure any type of cancer from stage one to four.

The Philippine delegation was received by JPMC Head Professor Tariq Mahmood. During the visit of the facility, Professor Mahmood explained that JPMC is the only hospital in Pakistan which is running a Cyber Knife Robotic System since 2013, and the only hospital in the world that is not charging a single penny from patients for cancer treatment.

He added that the free cancer treatment at the facility for the unprivileged is not limited to Pakistanis only, and any cancer patient from anywhere can avail the free treatment from JPMC. He further offered free training classes for Filipino medical students and free cancer treatments for indigent Filipinos in Pakistan

At the end of the visit, Ambassador Espiritu presented the official book of the Philippine-Pakistan relations to Professor Mahmood, who also presented a plaque of appreciation to the Ambassador. END
