21 March 2014 - In support of International Women’s Day (IWD) and to  promote gender and development, the Philippine Embassy supported the United Nations (UN) Women National Committee Australia fund raising initiative, with its personnel donning purple ribbons on March 7 to mark IWD.

Embassy personnel also distributed International Women’s Day purple ribbons to visitors and consular clients of the Embassy to raise awareness of the event and the situation of women.

“International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 across the world. IWD is global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women. It serves as an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.” (source: UN National Committee Australia website).
