TEL AVIV 22 July 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv held the Moving Up Ceremony of its Filipino Language and Culture Program on 07 July 2019.
This year, 37 Filipino students enrolled in the Bialik Rogozin School in Tel Aviv received their certificates from Philippine Ambassador to Israel Neal Imperial.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Ambassador Imperial stressed to the students the importance of learning the Filipino language and culture to prepare them for their first visit and eventual return to the Philippines. He also encouraged the parents to continue guiding and assisting their children by communicating with them in Filipino at home and introducing the culture and core values of Filipinos.
The Ambassador thanked both the parents and students for their support to the program since its implementation more than two years ago. A total of 80 students have so far graduated from the program.
The Filipino Language and Culture Program is a project of the Embassy in partnership with Bialik Rogozin School. The program aims to instill a sense of identity and cultural rootedness in Filipino children, born and raised in Israel who speak only the Hebrew language, by teaching them the national language and providing reintegration support.
The program is run by volunteer teachers from the Filipino community and Embassy officers and staff who underwent a training program with a language expert from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
The Department of Foreign Affairs–Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs (DFA-OUMWA) funds the program as part of the government’s reintegration program for overseas Filipinos and their families. END
