NAIROBI 24 July 2019 – Under the Philippine chairmanship, the ASEAN-Nairobi Committee (ANC) met with Singapore Non-Resident High Commissioner to Kenya Yatiman bin Yusof on 12 July 2019 at Zen Garden Restaurant in Nairobi.
The ANC welcomed High Commissioner Yatiman on his return to Kenya, as the latter has been Singapore’s non-resident envoy to Kenya for the past ten years.
The ANC Heads of Missions and High Commissioner Yatiman exchanged views on the economic progress in Kenya and East Africa, noting the construction and real estate boom in the country. They also discussed some sectors in which the ASEAN may assist the East African region in its development.
Singapore does not have an Embassy in Kenya but is represented by the Nairobi Overseas Centre under the auspices of the Enterprise Singapore (ESG), the Singapore government agency promoting the growth of Singapore’s overseas investments and trade. The Nairobi Overseas Centre opened in June 2018.
The ANC is composed of the Heads of Missions of the ASEAN countries present in Nairobi, which include Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand. END
