LOS ANGELES 30 June 2019 — Erasto R. Batongmalaque Foundation (doing business as Filipino Veterans Foundation) Executive Director Dr. Jenny Batongmalaque visited the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles on 18 June 2019 to present to Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz the Foundation’s programs for the 75th Anniversary of the Leyte Landing.
Two fundraising events are slated in September and October 2019 to help finance the Leyte Landing Grand Parade to be held at the Carson Community Center on 20 October 2019, as well as the Foundation’s supplemental nutrition assistance to veterans and their families, according to Dr. Batongmalaque.
Appreciating the Foundation’s continuing effort in promoting the welfare of the veterans and memorializing their heroic deeds, Consul General Cruz conveyed the Consulate General’s steadfast support to the cause of Filipino veterans in the United States, particularly the awarding of the Congressional Gold Medals to Filipino soldiers who fought side by side with the Americans during WW II.
In his public statements and meetings, Consul General Cruz always appealed to Filipino community leaders to care for and help improve the quality of life of disadvantaged elderly veterans and seniors by including them in their communities’ projects and advocacies. END
