Pinoys of Dubai Celebrate the Music of Ryan Cayabyab

DUBAI 30 June 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, in cooperation with the Philippine Independence Day celebrations Committee, feted 2018 National Artist for Music Ryan C. Cayabyab at a tribute concert “MUSIKAWITAN – A Soiree Of Songs And Saga” at the Institute of Banking and Financial Studies Auditorium, Academic City on 29 June 2019.

The concert, sponsored by Emirates National Bank of Dubai featured many of Mr. Cayabyab’s most popular compositions performed by Christian Voices Chorale. Consul General to Dubai Paul Raymund P. Cortes also performed two songs with the choir.

Two days prior to the concert, the Consulate General welcomed Mr. Cayabyab and Mrs. Emelina Cayabyab, in a reception attended by more than 100 guests from the Filipino community in Dubai.

The Filipino national artist also gave a music-writing and voice lesson workshop on 28 June 2019 at the Consulate General. The workshop had more than 25 participants, composed of aspiring songwriters, music coaches and singers from Dubai and Northern Emirates.

in his message to his fellow Filipinos, Mr. Cayabyab reminded them to be proud of the richness of Philippine culture, including music and the arts. He encouraged them to pursue the passion be it in the arts or whatever field they are engaged in. END
