PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to Polish President

Ambassador to Poland Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz and Polish President Andrzej Duda on their first official photo.

WARSAW 07 August 2019 — Ambassador to Poland Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz presented her credentials as the country’s envoy to Poland to Polish President Andrezj Duda at the Belvedere Palace in Warsaw on 11 July 2019.

Ambassador Ruiz was accompanied by her spouse Alejandro Ricardo Ruiz, Philippine Embssy in Warsaw Deputy Chief of Mission Mardomel Celo Melicor and Consul Alena Grace Borra.

President Duda warmly greeted Ambassador Ruiz and received her letter of credentials and the letter of recall of her predecessor. He proceeded to introduce the Palace and Ministy of Foreign Affairs officials in attendance.

Following the presentation of credential was a private meeting, where President Duda and Ambassador Ruiz briefly discussed the various aspects of Philippines-Poland relations and stressed the commitment of both countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation and linkages particularly in the areas of trade and investment, culture, science and technology, and tourism.

Ambassador Ruiz proceeded to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers for the traditional wreath laying ceremony.

Ambassador Ruiz is the fifth Philippine Ambassador to Poland. She was the first female Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon from 2011-2016, and was also previously assigned to the Philippine Embassies in Wellington, Kuala Lumpur, Canberra and Berlin.

At the Department of Foreign Affairs, she also served as Chief Coordinator, Assistant Secretary for the Legislative Liaison Unit, of the UN and International Organizations Office (UNIO), DFA-UNIO Political and Security Division Director, DFA-UNIO Human Rights Division Director, DFA-Officer of ASEAN Affairs Director, and DFA-Office of the European Affairs Acting Director.

The Embassy has concurrent jurisdiction over Philippine relations with the countries of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine END

Director of Diplomatic Protocol Krzysztof Krajewski, with the Commander of the Guard of Honor led Ambassador Basinang-Ruiz during the inspection of the Polish troops.
