TEL AVIV 09 August 2019 — In coordination with the Agrostudies Program, the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv conducted a Post Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) to 35 student-trainees on 30 June 2019 at the Ruppin campus in Netanya  and 120 participants on 01 July 2019 at the Kfar Silver campus in Ashkelon.

In his remarks, Ambassador to Israel Neal Imperial exhorted the orientees to harness the experience and knowledge gained in Israel to boost the Philippine agricultural sector.

“I encourage you to inject youthful dynamism to the country’s aging farmers, and apply the skills and expertise you learned by forming cooperatives to develop the farming sector in your home province,” Ambassador Imperial said.

Consul General Randy Arquiza presented an overview of the Embassy functions, the various advisories issued, and Filipino community matters, while Labor Attaché Atty. Rodolfo Gabasan briefed the students about their rights and work benefits under the program.

The Agrostudies Program combines practical work and academic training for 11 months in Israel. Since 2005, a total of 3,896 Filipino student-trainees have graduated from the Agrostudies Program. The current group of 639 students is the 14th batch after the latest graduation of 581 students last year.

The Embassy considers the program an important pillar of Philippine-Israel development cooperation in the agricultural sector. END
