PH Ambassador and Culture Secretary Vow Further Collaboration

BRAZIL 09 August 2019 — Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro and Brazil Federal District’s Secretary of Culture Adão Candido vowed further cultural collaboration between the Philippines and Brasilia when the two met on 29 July 2019.
Ambassador Mauro also took the opportunity to formally thank Secretary Candido for allowing the Philippines to screen Jose Javier Reyes’ “Ano ang Kulay ng Nakalimutang Pangarap?” (“What is the Color of a Forgotten Dream?”) on 28 August 2019 at Cinema Brasilia, which is owned by the Federal District.
The film was screened in line with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Philippine cinema and a first in the history of Philippines-Brazil cultural relations.
To further strengthen the cultural relations between the two countries, Ambassador Mauro and Secretary Candido discussed about the possibility of entering into a partnership that will see the Federal District’s Cultural Secretariat of the actively promoting the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia’s cultural promotion projects.
As a follow-up project to the film screening, Ambassador Mauro proposed to include Brasilia as one of the possible stops of Hibla ng Lahing Filipino (Fiber of the Filipino Race) Traveling Exhibition in 2020.
Secretary Candido was receptive to both ideas and even offered a space to hold the Hibla exhibition next year. END
