PH Ambassador Talks about PH, Argentina’s Common Heritage in Argentine Radio

BUENOS AIRES 09 August 2019 – “The Philippine-Argentine relations is warm and friendly due to a significant extent of common heritage and shared values,” Ambassador to Argentina Linglingay F. Lacanlale said in an interview with Argentina’s Radio Nacional AM 870 on 29 July 2019.
University of Buenos Aires’ Institute of Studies for Latin America and the Caribbean- Study Group on Asia and Latin America director Dr. Fernando Pedrosa, and Radio Nacional Director for Podcasts Diego Mintz interviewed Ambassador Lacanlale for their radio program on ASEAN and Asia Pacific, including China and India. The program will run until September 2019.
Ambassador Lacanlale spoke on Philippines-Argentina diplomatic relations, the state of democracy in the Philippines, the Duterte Administration, and developments in the Bangsamoro region, among others.
“The Philippines remains a vibrant, well-functioning representative democracy; its democratic institutions firmly in place and that fundamental freedoms are respected,” Ambassador Lacanlale conveyed to the listeners.
She described President Rodrigo Duterte’s leadership style as unconventional, strong and charismatic, which have gained him the support of the majority of the people. This is evidenced by the consistently high approval rating for the President.
After the radio interview, Ambassador Lacanlale toured the facilities of the historic radio station, including its recently renovated historic auditorium, where well-known Argentine rock and roll, classical, and tango bands, including French artist Edith Piaf, have performed. END
