25 March 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Abuja organized an economic roadshow on February 21 at the Nigerian Turkish Nile University (NTNU), Abuja Nigeria with attendance of about 30 guests, including businesspersons, members of the media and the academe.
Dubbed as the Philippine Economic Roadshow 2014, it aimed to attract prospective investors and importers to the Philippines through an interactive discussion of the various business opportunities and services offered in the Philippines.
The Embassy also promoted the attendance of Nigerian business people to Manila FAME 2014 which was held last March 14 to 16 in Manila.
Third Secretary and Vice Consul Ralf Roldan made a brief but substantial presentation on trade and investmet opportunities in the Philippines available to Nigerians. After the presentation, Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria Alex Lamadrid and Vice Consul Roldan fielded questions from the audience regarding their various interests.
The Embassy personnel responded to queries on the various goods and services offered in Philippines. A number of them likewise expressed interest to join the Manila FAME 2014 in March.
The roadshow, the first of its kind to be organized by the Embassy, is part of the Embassy’s efforts in paving the way for the realization of increased bilateral trade between the Philippines and Nigeria, as well as encouraging more Nigerian investment in the Philippines.
At the end of the roadshow, Ambassador Lamadrid expressed his appreciation to NTNU for providing their ultra-modern auditorium as venue of the presentation. The Vice Chancellor of NTNU, prof Dr. Huseyin Sert, welcomed the opportunity to learn about economic opportunities in the Philippines. END
