PH Embassy Joins ASEAN Family Day 2019 Celebrations

PARIS 15 August 2019 — Philippine Embassy in Paris officers and staff, along with their families, celebrated the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Family Day at the Château Chanorier de Croissy sur Seine just outside Paris on 27 July 2019.

Ambassadors of the ASEAN Committee in Paris (ACP) and ASEAN-United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Committee officially opened the ceremony with pétanque, an outdoor game closest to French hearts played with metallic balls. Sepak takraw, a ball game native to Southeast Asia played with a rattan ball, plus other outdoor games for both adults and children made the event more festive. The participants were also offered the tasty native cuisines of each ASEAN member state.

Croissy-sur-Seine Mayor Jean Roger-Davin and First Deputy Mayor in Charge of Chanorier and Commerce Katerine Noël attended the event. Mayor Roger-Davin was also a guest in the ASEAN Family Day 2017 held in the same city during ASEAN’s 50th anniversary.

Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro said, “ASEAN has come a long way in promoting economic growth, social progress, and cultural development in the region and events such as the ASEAN Family Day in Paris help maintain camaraderie among ASEAN personnel based in France, that is vital in achieving common goals.”

The ASEAN Family Day is an annual event held to celebrate the founding of ASEAN every 8th day of August. Traditionally held in Paris, the event is organized and hosted by ACP, in which the Embassy is an active member. END
