25 March 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz paid a courtesy call on Ashraf Rifi, the new Minister of Justice of Lebanon on March 18 to convey to him the Philippines’ felicitations and best wishes on his appointment. Minister Rifi was previously the Director General of the Internal Security Forces (police) of Lebanon. 

The Ambassador likewise informed Minister Rifi on the ongoing efforts of the Embassy to safeguard the welfare of Filipinos in Lebanon, which he supported during his time as chief of the Lebanese police. Minister Rifi assured her of his continuing support for the Embassy’s initiatives within the context of his Ministry’s mandate.

At the end of her call, Ambassador Ruiz presented Philippine-made gift items, which were received by the Minister with great appreciation. END
