PH Embassy in The Hague Meets Filipino Professors at ICAS 21 in Leiden

THE HAGUE 19 August 2019 – Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda met with five Filipino professors who presented their research papers at the International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS 21), an inter-disciplinary conference held at Leiden University on 16-19 July 2019.
The professors are all from the University of the Philippines composed of Professors Dwight David Diestro, Ruel Pagunsan, and Michael Sy, and Assistant Professor April Hope Castro.
Ambassador Ledda cited the importance of their participation at the conference to help generate interest and appreciation of scholarly research on the Philippines ranging from history to the environment.
The ICAS 21 was conceived in 1998 by the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) based in Leiden as a platform at which Asian, American and European Asianist can study problems of interest to all in the fragmented field of Asian studies.
Meanwhile, IIAS a global humanities and social sciences institute with programs that engage Asian and other international partners in its thematic and multi-sectoral approach to the study of Asia clustered under: “Asian Heritages”, “Asian Cities” and “Global Asia.” END
