19 March 2014 – Philippine Consul General in Xiamen Julius Caesar A. Flores chaired the 8thJoint Mechanism Meeting among the Consulates General of the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, as well as the Xiamen Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) held last March 14 at the Kempinski Hotel Xiamen.
The meeting primarily finalized preparations for the 4th Nanyang Culture Festival, which will be held in Xiamen from March 28 to April 4. The Philippines will participate in the Food Festival, Academic Symposium, Trade Exhibition and Cultural Performances.
Consul General Flores also took the opportunity to convey the appreciation of the Consulate General for the support and cooperation of Xiamen FAO and Xiamen City for the successful Philippine participation in the Xiamen Lantern Festival and the recently concluded Fujian Media Familiarization Tour.
Xiamen FAO’s delegation was led by Director General Hong Chengzong, while Consul General Loh Tuck Keat of Singapore and Consul General Pachuen Phornmongkol of Thailand led their respective delegations.
Following the Meeting, Consul General Flores hosted a lunch for officials and representatives from Xiamen FAO and Consulates General of Singapore and Thailand.
The Joint Mechanism Meeting was established between Xiamen FAO and the three Consulates General of the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, primarily to forge closer cooperation with the city of Xiamen and China, in general. END
