SAN FRANCISCO 29 August 2019 – A number of artists from Manila and executives from ABS-CBN paid a courtesy call on the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco on 29 July 2019.
ABS-CBN executives, composed of Managing Director for North and Latin America region Jun Del Rosario, Global Head of Corporate Affairs Nerissa Fernandez, and ABS-CBN Dreamscapes Entertainment Head Deo Endrinal, as well as top Filipino singers and artists Martin Nievera, Eric Santos, and Enchong Dee, met with Consuls Jed Martin Llona and Dominic Xavier Imperial and enlisted the Consulate General’s support for its major show, “ASAP Natin 'To Bay Area” at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, on 03 August 2019.
The ASAP concert will bring over 30 talents and artists to provide world-class entertainment to both Filipino and foreign audience in the Bay Area in celebration of the 25th anniversary of ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) in the Bay Area.
Consul Llona read the message of Consul General to San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr., who was in the Philippines on official mission. In his message, Consul General Bensurto emphasized that with ABS-CBN’s partnership with the Consulate General and its programs, “ABS-CBN reaffirms its commitment to the global Filipino community, not only to inform and entertain, but also to spark love and passion for the Philippines among Filipinos worldwide”.
He added that the Spark*Connect*Empower (SCE) movement, which is non-political and non-partisan, aims to bring together various Filipino-Americans and Fil-Am community organizations, including the media. The SCE intends to spark love and passion among all Filipinos, both home and abroad, including those of Filipino lineage, about their Filipino culture and heritage; connect them with one another; and empower them as individuals and as member of the community.
In his response, Mr. Del Rosario said that the presence of TFC in the Bay Area reflects the spirit of genuine strategic partnership between the Philippine Consulate and the network as the Bay Area is the gateway of the media network to the whole of the United States.
The Consulate General also attended the press conference of the “ASAP Natin to Bay Area” concert at the TFC Studio in Daly City on 31 July 2019. END
