PH Ambassador Meets Seychellois Vice President, Secretary of State to Promote PH-Seychelles Bilateral Relations

VICTORIA, SEYCHELLES 29 August 2019 – At the sidelines of his presentation of credentials, Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua paid a courtesy call on Seychellois Vice President and Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Blue Economy Vincent Meriton on 06 August 2019 at the Seychelles State House.
Ambassador Chua expressed his hopes that bilateral relations between the two countries could be improved by the signing of bilateral agreements, initially for labor and the air services agreement which are currently on the final stages, and hopefully find more areas of common interest for future cooperation.
For his part, Vice President Meriton emphasized the importance Seychelles places on the Blue Economy, being an archipelagic nation, wherein their resources and source of income relies greatly on the preservation of their waters.
Ambassador Chua expressed that with increased bilateral cooperation, the two countries could find more areas of collaboration including in the blue economy as marine, maritime and water resources are also important to the Philippines.
The Ambassador also met with Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs Barry Faure at the Maison Queau de Quinssy in Mont Fleuri, Victoria, in order to enumerate concrete steps to strengthen the bonds between the Philippines and Seychelles.
“We hope to complete all the agreements currently on our table at the soonest possible time,” said Secretary Faure, “That we can find and work on more areas of cooperation to advance our common interest,” Ambassador Chua concluded. END
