PH Consulate General in San Francisco Fetes ABS-CBN TFC on 25th Anniversary

SAN JOSE 05 August 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco honored ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) on its 25th anniversary via the ASAP Natin ‘To in the Bay Area concert at the SAP Center in San Jose on 03 August 2019.
Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. presented a Certificate of Recognition to TFC, represented by ABS-CBN North and Latin America Manager Jun Del Rosario, ABS-CBN Global Chief Operating Officer Olivia De Jesus, ABS-CBN President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo L. Katigbak and ABS-CBN Chairman Mark Lopez, for “igniting interest in and love of Philippine culture and heritage, connecting the Filipino diaspora and empowering the global Filipino.”
Former Mayor of San Francisco and California House Speaker Willie Brown Jr. and community leader and government liaison Ben Menor presented a Proclamation from California Governor Gavin Newsom to ABS-CBN TFC.
The SAP Center was packed of thousands of Filipino-Americans who came to watch over 50 artists and performers, including Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Ogie Alcasid, Zsazsa Padilla, Piolo Pascual, Miss Universe 2015 and 2018 winners Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray, Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Sam Milby, Billy Crawford, and Coco Martin, among many other popular Filipino artists, in what ABS-CBN dubbed as the world’s largest touring Filipino show.
According to ABS-CBN, the four-hour show featuring live musical and dance performances was held in the San Francisco Bay Area, for being the mecca for innovation, cultural diversity and trend-setting ideas, and for being the birthplace of TFC 25 years ago. END
