PH Embassy in Moscow Holds Kapihan sa Pasuguan on Basic Gender Awareness, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Protection

MOSCOW 02 September 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Moscow held a special lecture for its Filipino community on Basic Gender Awareness and Sexual Harassment Prevention and Protection on 18 August 2019.

A total of 36 members of the Filipino community attended the seminar, majority of whom were women.

The lecture was delivered by Sisters Center Foundation counselors Yulia Alekseeva and Natalia Timofeeva. The Sisters Center Foundation is a Russian non-governmental non-profit organization that helps in the rehabilitation of survivors of sexual violence.

Misses Alekseeva and Timofeeva briefed the members of the Filipino Community on what is considered sexual harassment, as well as probable victims and perpetrators. They offered their organization, and its website for the Filipino community.

Both noted the proactive stand of the Embassy, and the admirable mutual support network of Filipinos in Russia. Both were candid about the challenges physically, psychologically and sexually-harassed women face in the context of Russian norms. END
