PRETORIA 22 August 2019 – Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Joseph Gerard B. Angeles served as the Guest of Honor in “A Night of Stars,” a cultural presentation and talent show organized by the Filipino community in Mozambique (FILCOMOZ) in Maputo on 10 August 2019.

Over 200 Filipinos living in Maputo and nearby provinces showcased their talents through songs and dances.

“I am very proud of our kababayans in Mozambique, most of whom are engaged as teachers.  Their level of professionalism is well-known in Mozambique, and the vital role they play in the education of Mozambican children is recognized as a valuable pillar in the progress this country,” Ambassador Angeles said, expounding on the high level of professionalism shown by Filipinos in Mozambique.

Also making reference to Mozambique’s capital city, Ambassador Angeles said “Maputo has become our second home. Because we are so far away from the motherland, our community here has become our family, our relatives, our neighbors. Indeed our lifeline to a decent and happy life away from home” END
