PH Consulate General in Manado Celebrates Buwan ng Wika

MANADO 06 September 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Manado, led by Consul General to Manado Oscar G. Orcine and with the Filipino community, celebrated the Buwan ng Wika with the theme “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino” on 24 August 2019 at the Consulate General’s premises.

In pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1041, s.1997, which declares the month of August as the National Language Month, the Buwan ng Wika recognizes the importance of preserving Filipino and other Philippine Languages.

The Consulate General’s program commenced with a celebration of a mass followed by a Tagalog poetry reading by Vice Consul Manuel C. Ayap.

The activity ended with a salo-salo (feast) and singing of Filipino songs. END
